Warning Sticker
Someone came back from attending a home security seminar orgainsed by the police and brought back some pamphlets of do’s and don’ts. On the surface, it seemed like our good police force are doing their part in educating the community on home security.
One of the pamphlets has a sticker to be stuck onto the outside of the front door. It says “Attractive items in this house has been marked and photographed, and details kept with the police.” It is hoped that this warning would deter any would be house breaker as he or she would have great difficulty selling off any attractive item stolen from this house. As details of the items are kept with the police, they could be easily caught. I am not sure how effective this may be. Perhaps it may frighten off some dump or naïve kids on their first attempt to steal.
If the above logic is valid, I have a better suggestion. I would have put up a sticker saying “I know everyone in this town and every one in this town have visited my house and knows what household items I have. If you steal from this house, you will be unable to sell to anyone in this town. So please don’t waste your time!”
