My Holiday

My wife and I were away on overseas holiday and I have not written anything for some times. Last few months have been wonderful. There were daily sightseeing, activities, entertainments, dinners and souvenir shopping. Of course, there were also plenty of opportunities for taking photos.

Before we departed for our holiday, my colleagues urged me to write to them or send them a card whenever I visited a new country, or a new city. This usually happened when others went for their holidays. Though very often, their postcards arrived long after they came back to work. As for me, I broke that vicious cycle by not sending out a single postcard, or an e-mail, not even a telephone message. The fact is that we were on a holiday to enjoy ourselves. It was an opportunity to be free from the stress of the workplace. Obviously, the last thing on my mind was to write to my colleagues to discuss about the work or the workplace. I thought it was better not to antagonise them or make them jealous with those beautiful postcards.

Prior to our holiday, we had taken all the necessary pain to make sure that as many details as possible like accommodations, transports, tickets etc were prearranged or booked. We familiarised ourselves with the street maps and the transport systems of the cities we were to visit. So when we were actually there, travelling in a foreign land, there were little surprises. To the more adventurous, this might sound too plain and boring. However, this was our sure way to enjoy our holiday without much fuss. Good planning certainly helped to reduce our risks and had ensured that we had an enjoyable holiday.
