Friends
Everybody have friends. Some have more friends than others. Only the very few most honest of the lot say they have no friend.
We make friends throughout our lives. Friends can be our childhood playmates, our school mates, our neighbours, our colleagues, our business partners, our social club members, our doctors, our dentists, our local shop keepers, our milkman, or just anybody whom we have chance to meet at least once, be it at work or at social events or just any where at any event. In the olden days, we also make pen friends through letter writings. In this new age, we make friend over the Internet, through chat rooms, msn messages, e-mails, discussion forums or other Internet or telecommunication facilities. Very often, we don’t get to see these friends although we tend to visualise or imagine how they look like.
Be nature, friends are supportive of each other and share some common interests. A friend is a person where you can spend some of your time with and be happy about it. A friend is someone whom you can talk to when you feel lonely or when you need some advice. Friends will encourage each other to advance and supportive of each other during difficult times. These are commonly known as true friends. In reality, how many of our friends are true friends?
A corporate fraudster who was recently convicted lamented that he felt sad because he had not heard anything from his friends. Since the commencement of his trial, his busy telephone seems to stop ringing. He had received less and less invitation to any parties until no invitation is forthcoming. His friends seemed to look the other way when he entered his favourite social club. It is at this worst time that he started to ponder the meaning of friends. It is not difficult to realise that the large circle of friends were built up based on financial gains or other benefits while his business was at its peak. When these benefits cease, friendship stopped.
Not anybody we know, or we have parties with are our friends. They are part of the events of our daily lives. We may be surrounded by many of such friends, but we may also be truly lonely. It is not easy to build up good friendship. It require sincerely and time to build true friendship and it must be mutual. Strong friendship can be developed though neighbourhood, through social events or through work or business connections. The test of these friendships can only come when one is down with difficult time. It is easier to develop deep and lasting friendship when one is young, when material gain and art of manipulation are at their least. True friendship often developed from schoolmates, or during times when both parties are having common interests. Very often friendship develops when both parties are at difficult times. As the saying goes “a friend in need is a friend indeed.”
I may be good feeling to have lot of friends but I would prefer to have true friends though limited in numbers.

Motivation is the key
Over the last few months, my wife and I have spent considerable time planning for our long overseas holiday. We visited tour offices, studies those glossy tour brochures and eventually decided on what we want to do. So we book the air tickets, the accommodation and the tours.
This holiday will cause us considerably and needless to say, we are looking forward to enjoying ourselves. So I decided to spend sometime learning about the places we want to visit. When I am reading newspapers or magazines, I paid particular attention to those articles related to the places we are going to visit. I search the web and browse through pages of information and indulge myself in the cultures and celebration of the countries, their transport system, their weather, their history, their food, places of interest and many more. More interestingly, I have given myself an opportunity to view the many photos of the cities and villages, peoples, cultures, and many more. As a result I have gained a much better understanding of the geography of these countries and the way they live. The web is truly an amazing place providing all the information I needed.
If we have not planned for this holiday, I may not have gone this far to learn up all these information. The coming trip has provided me great incentive and motivation to improve my knowledge of the countries we intended to visit.
I can only say that motivation is a key factor in the learning process.
