Richness comes in many ways
A friend once told a lottery ticket seller that he was rich, so there is no necessity to buy a ticket to win it big. It was great to be able to feel rich. Most people do not feel that they are rich. Whatever level of their financial wealth, they just want more and more. Anyway, who doesn’t want more money? Time over time, money has been proven to be a powerful tool able to move mountains, divert rivers and save lives. If one has no need for the excess money, there are always plenty of ways to share the money with others who need it more.
Money is a form of wealth, well sought after by most people. Most people feel happy if they can have more money. However, wealth or richness is not necessary restricted to the amount of money we have. There are actually many other forms of richness, often neglected and at times not thought of by many people. To many people living in fortunate countries with living standard way above the poverty line, health and fitness has become the most important asset. After all to live happily, one needs to have a healthy body. I don’t think any body can be happy if he or she is suffering from poor health and requiring medical attention.
Apart from health, there are many things that can make us rich and happy. We can be happy if we are successful in our career, if our work is appreciated by others, if we do well in examinations, if we are surrounding by interesting people, if we have a caring loving and understanding partner, if our children do well in their education, if we have good families, or simply if we are loved and appreciated by others. The list goes on. There are many more ways to feel rich and be happy, apart from having more money. I can only conclude that we are richer than what we thought.
So when people ask me “ Are you rich?” My answer will be “Yes, I am very rich in many ways although I am not rich financially.”
