Do we learn from our mistakes?

Not everyone is perfect. Sometimes, we make mistakes and we make wrong decisions. There are some who make more mistakes and make more wrong decisions than others. Sometimes, the mistakes are entirely due to our fault. We make mistake because we lack the knowledge in the subject matter, or we do not analyse the issue or subject matter thoroughly before making the decision or simply we do not have the time to analyse the issue properly. Sometimes, we make mistake because we are just simply careless in handling the issue. At other times, we make mistake or error of judgement due to circumstances beyond our control. The important thing is that we must learn from our mistakes and not to repeat the same or similar mistakes.

The first thing towards improvement is to recognise and admit that something is not right. We can then proceed to identify the mistake or the specific wrong decision or wrong action. We will then analyse and formulate strategies and action to do better next time. If we refuse to recognise or admit our mistake, we will never improve. Simply, it there is nothing wrong, what is wrong in doing it again? If we think that it is not our fault, we will continue to justify ourselves that there is nothing we can do to improve on it. Only when we admit that there is a mistake, we can only start to thing about how to do the same thing better next time.
