Discount Coupons

We used to receive discount coupons in the letter box. The coupons normally provide a 10% to 20% discount for purchases made for certain shops. It is not bad if you can buy things at a discount.

The problem is that a lot of those coupons are for items that are luxurious or irrelevant. So do we go out and buy those discounted stuff which we do not need? This is just like those festive sales or clearance sales or stock take sales. Do we rush out and buy just because there is a SALES. I estimated that there is always a sales every alternative month. You really never miss out if you need that stuff later.

Well, sometimes people rushed to somewhere to buy just because they have a discount coupon in their hand. They might save a few dollars but eventually ending up paying more dollars for their petrol or transport. They might be better off saving times and buying at their local areas. In doing so, they also support the local business which basically depend on local community support.

Eventually, those discounted coupons belong to the recycle bin.

A Break From The Routine

I realise that I have not been writing for a while. Well, my mind has been wandering looking for that something rather than thinking for that something to write.

I have been concentrating on reading up and planning for my holiday. That is not necessary a bad thing. Most of us will do the routine day in and day out either to continue to survive or to continue to excel. We continue to indulge in our daily routine until it becomes an automatic function of us. Eventually, the routine takes control of us and we have lost ourselves. When we ever have a chance to stop doing the routine, we would have presented ourselves the opportunity to look at things differently and to discover ourselves.

I think it is important to take a break from the routine. By taking a break, I mean, doing something different, like taking a holiday (see note below). Even if you can’t go for a holiday, you may continue to work or continue to study, but you can do something different from usual during your spare time. If you do not have the spare time, you may need to carve out some from your routine work.

Most people stick to routine because they are familiar with the routine and they feel comfortable. Doing something which is not a routine may involve encountering with the unknown and may involve more risk. Nevertheless, encountering with the unknown means an opportunity to stimulate our inquisitive minds which enable us to think more deeply and more laterally.

A break from the routine may not be as easy as one thought. Sometimes, it is necessary to have courage and determination.

(Note: unless you are filthy rich, you certainly do not have "Holidays" as your routine.)
