Recipe for a good marriage

A friend's daughter recently got married and we were invited to attend the wedding ceremony. While waiting for the bride to arrive, I was contemplating on why some marriages fail and some were successful. And what can be the recipe for a good marriage.

Much had been said and written about what constitute a good marriage. Nevertheless, a good marriage cannot be equated to a perfect marriage, for nothing in life is ever perfect.

Over the years, many recipes for a good marriage has been designed and tested. These recipes include using raw materials like good look, talent, money, humour, fun, compassion, commitment, care, share, common sense, forgiveness, thoughtfulness, patient, understanding and of course the main ingredient love. However, not all these good marriage ingredients come with the same degree of purity and quality. And also the cooking temperature and surrounding environment may differ. As a result, some marriages are good and some are not so good, though all of these marriages are prepared using more of less the same ingredients.

So, there is actually no one perfect recipe for a good marriage. Each couple really need to explore, experiment and learn to modify the cooking method regularly to keep pace with the changing environment under which a better marriage can be baked. Marriage is a lifetime commitment. Once committed, there is only one way forward. The way is to use the best quality ingredient at all time and improve our cooking method to maintain a good marriage.
